“Cut Peace” speaks about the power of personal choice and the transformation of forms of protection in the context of war.
During the performance, Tania cuts the clothes off her own body with scissors in front of the audience and weaves them into a camouflage net until she is left naked. The tempo accelerates with each new cut fragment, intensifying the tension. In the final moment, remaining naked, Tania drapes the net over herself as a symbol of the protection she has created.
“Cut Peace” addresses the conscious necessity of the present moment and the willingness to give one’s last possessions in order to defend one’s freedom. Although Tania becomes increasingly exposed with each cut of clothing, this does not diminish her determination to act.
Thus, throughout the performance, the forms of protecting the human body are transformed in response to the demands of war.
The performance took place in Zaporizhzhia, within a context just 30 km from the front line.
